How do I order a cake in Portsmouth?
Ordering a cake for any special occasion such as; birthday cakes, wedding cake, baby shower cake, event cakes, and dietary cakes can be daunting.
As someone like me who is the baker I need to know so much information based on what cake you will need, so I can get it perfect for your special day.
In this blog post, I will talk you though finding the perfect person to create your cake and everything you should include in your initial email for a cake inquiry and what questions you can expect to be asked.
Firstly, finding the correct baker to make your cake. There are hundreds of possible people out there to create your cake, but finding the perfect person can be hard. When finding the right person to make the cake, you need to look at there social medias and website. Their social media is there portfolio and there way to show you exactly how amazing they are at creating cakes. Take your time with looking into what designs they have created in the past and look to see if they have made a similar cake to what you would like. If you want a buttercream cake, I highly recommend you go to some one who specialises in buttercream cakes and not fondant. This might sound obvious but you would be shocked at how many people don’t think of these things.
Now, you have found the baker who you would like to make your cake for you! It’s time to send your enquiry. In your email it’s so important to keep it simple enough that it’s not too busy with words but also it must contain the information that is important.
- What design cake you would like
- What flavours
- When is it for
- How many it’s feeding
- Any allergies
- Delivery or pickup
If you can include all of this information within the first email, that makes the bakers life so much easier and the whole process much simpler for everyone. If you aren’t 100% sure what cake design you would like exactly, just include what hobbies, or things the person likes to do within the email. This will let the baker have some ideas of what they could include on the cake.
Always give the baker a good few weeks notice for the cake order, by giving a good amount of time it gives the baker time to come up with a design for you.
Let’s pretend for this instance you have ordered a Spider-Man theme cake, Victoria sponge.
